Spelic's Capital Fishing Adventures
Danny Spelic is a fishing instructor, guide and photo-journalist
based in the nation’s capital, Canberra. He is also a director of
the Treehouse Entertainment Group, a recently established production
company specialising in outdoor TVC's, show reels and documentaries
promoting fishing and other outdoor pursuits.
He runs a number of courses in recreational fishing at TAFE's and
colleges in and around the ACT and has instructed more than 500
students over the last 10 years in a range of courses covering most
fish species and environments including rivers and streams,
freshwater impoundments and saltwater beaches and estuaries.
His fishing career has taken him throughout Australia and New
Zealand, as well as some of Europe's most unique salmonid fisheries
including the renowned Soca River in Slovenia, home to the endemic
Marble Trout.
He is a well respected tournament caster and an Australian Fly
Casting Champion. He is the current NSW and ACT Fly Casting Champion
of Champions, and was winner of the inaugural Snowy Mountains Trout
Challenge plug casting championship in 2003. Danny was also the
event organiser for the Australian Fly Casting Championships in 2002
and 2005 and will again organise the event in 2009. Danny is also a
Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor.
A regular contributor to both national and international fishing
publications and outdoor magazines (including Freshwater Fishing
Magazine, FlyLife, Fishing Monthly, Great Walks and Sportski Ribolov
- one of Europe's leading fishing journals), Spelic is quickly
gaining a reputation as one of the countries finest young writers
and photographers, promoting innovative techniques and
conservation-based fishing both at home and overseas.
In his role as director of "Treehouse Entertainment", Spelic was
recently commissioned to produce show reels for Tourism NT to
promote fishing and adventure activities in the top end. He is also
currently working on a pilot outdoor adventure program with Jon
Siveright (Actor on Channel 7's Home and Away) and Jaz Spelic,
Producer of the The Trinity of Vukovar (member of the Encompass
Group in Sydney).
Danny is also in the process of writing his first book titled
"Fishing in Canberra and Surrounds" which is due to be released in
early 2009.
Although he is just as happy to soak bait or cast a lure for
anything that swims, his real passion is fly fishing. These days
Spelic spends most of his time sight fishing for trout in the
Snowy's, casting for Cod in and around Canberra and chasing Bass,
Bream and Flathead in the South Coast estuaries.
Promotional work, TVC's, documentaries, fishing consultancy services
and tailored tuition and trips for corporate groups are Spelic's
specialties.

Staff Member. He has completed product reviews for a number of
companies and organisations including Engel, ARB Off-Road, Loomis,
