John Coles’ Fly Fishing School is Sydney's only dedicated Fly Fishing School, with regular workshops. Students are offered the choice of Full Day and 2 Day Introduction Courses and Half Day Casting Clinics. His courses are fun and the instruction packed lessons will prepare you for fly fishing in fresh or saltwater. Video assisted casting tuition helps you see what you are doing.

John works with small groups so each student gets plenty of personal instruction and advice. Private lessons for individuals, couples, corporate and women's groups.

John is passionate about teaching fly fishing and has done this over the last twelve years. If you have never had a rod in your hand he will get you casting in no time at all, and if you have been fishing for sometime he will help improve your techniques.

All equipment, course notes, morning and afternoon tea provided. John also offers Fly Tying lessons.Courses are held on Sydney's Northern Beaches and at various locations in Sydney's South and West.Students are also offered trips away so that they can gain valuable experience fishing Lakes and Streams. John has over 30 years experience as a Fly Fisher, he enjoys the challenge of fishing both still waters as well as rivers. He likes nothing better than guiding clients sight fishing to cruising Brown and Rainbow Trout. He has spent a great deal of time fishing and guiding in the Wilderness areas of the Blue Mountains. Experience the exhilaration of helicopter fly fishing, within a short flight you can reach some amazing places. Its a unique way to see the Australian landscape, include a sightseeing tour of Sydney, its an adventure you'll never forget.

He has a great deal of experience fishing the streams and dams of the Central Tablelands around the Lithgow and Oberon areas. Much of the fishing is on private properties, including his own stocked dam at Oberon. He also has access to several private fisheries stocked with native fish such as Bass, Silver Perch and Murray Cod. Further south John spends each season around the Tumut area and offers regular trips. He loves fishing the Snowy Mountains and Monaro areas.

John has a range of fishing locations that he selects, taking into account seasonal and water conditions.

On overnight trips accommodation varies from simple rustic cabins and shearers quarters to a night at an historical homestead, pubs and resorts. Travel by comfortable 4WD or if you prefer you can bring your own vehicle. John loves showing visitors the Australian bush with its magnificent scenery and abundant wildlife.

He loves guiding beginners on their first fly fishing trip as well as more accomplished fly fishers in search of challenging fishing. He promotes catch and release preferring to capture the image on camera, supplying you with a DVD of your trip.

He offers special trips to New Zealand, with winter fishing in the North Island and summer trips to the South Island, working with a local guide.
