find a guide Before you engage a guide or instructor, make sure you know what services you're going to get. You should also check if the guide has the appropriate permits, licenses, and insurance for the activities planned. (PFIGA guides have completed an accreditation process ensuring that they are capable guides and instructors, and run their businesses in a proper, professional manner). For the actual fishing trip, the main thing is to discuss plans with your guide. Usually, guides do not like to fish themselves while with a client. It makes things more difficult for them. However, sometimes clients enjoy having their guide fish, at least for some of the time. "It shows me what's possible," said one client. Be sure to tell your guide what you want to do before the trip begins.
Fishing guides have been helping anglers for many years, but it is only in relatively recent times that ordinary people have been able to afford what was previously regarded as a luxury available only to the very wealthy. Catching a big Marlin from a fully crewed game fishing boat does not come cheap. However, just as there are many different kinds of fishing, there are professionals offering a variety of different services, with the costs varying depending on what is included. Good professional fishing guides are not only technically skillful anglers, who know the right times and places to enjoy good fishing, but they can also teach clients how to improve their own skills and knowledge. In some cases they organise fishing schools, where groups of clients get together to learn. Sometimes the school activities include actual fishing practice, but sometimes they may be entirely in a classroom. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced fisher, a professional guide can help you improve. A guided fishing trip may involve walking along a beach, walking and wading in rivers, or using a boat for transport or a fishing platform.
